Board of Trustees approve new residence hall

The Board of Trustees on Sept. 9th approved the construction of a new residence hall on the current location of Sewell Hall ( which is being demolished this fall). The new residence hall is expected to be ready for fall 2013.

Below is the description for the residence hall from the Board of Trustee agenda:

“The Student Residence Hall will be a 246,000 square foot facility which will house approximately 420 students in 205 suites. The general configuration of the housing unit will be two students per suite, with a common kitchenette, living room, and each bedroom having a separate bathroom.”

This will be a very welcome (and needed) addition to the on-campus living situation.

Some of the other buildings being demolished this fall will be replaced by green space (at least for the time being).

Very nice residence hall students will welcome it specially freshmen.

This sounds really nice

Will there be a dining facility included in this new complex? Just curious, it’s further away than most other residence halls (like the CD Extension.)

Yes there is plans for a dining facility. It is suppose to be presented at the November Board of Trustees meeting.
