I know a lot of different schools hav different formats for their essays, but just post the different formats of essays because I can’t find them on some of the school’s websites that I’m applying to. If you can post the formats for St. Marks, Peddie, Kent, and Mercersburg that’d be great. Oh, and do all schools require an essay?

You need to establish a user ID to access Mercersburg’s application. Most of the BS websites are similar. Just go to “Admission” and there is usually a selection related to the process of applying. That’s where I found the above links. Remember, these are last year’s applications, so you’ll need to wait for the 2011-12 application essays. Section I, the Candidate Profile is pretty much the same from year to year. It’s where you fill your personal information, interests, accomplishments, etc.

@rizzledizzle: While I know you’re probably champing at the bit to get your BS apps started, I would caution you to wait until Sept or Oct. to begin them in earnest. Two reasons: As Kraordrawoh notes, most schools haven’t posted their 2011-12 app cycle essay/short answer questions yet. Yes, some might be the same from year to year, but we were on the opposite end of this last year…I had printed out a few essay prompts for my daughter to mull over in late July/August and the prompts changed when the apps were updated in the early fall. She wasn’t real pleased with me.

Also, something might happen when you get back to school that would make great material for an essay…a new friend, a book you read, a debate, an honor, a challenge…it might be hard, but I’d say chill, enjoy summer…and take the time to work on your “visit/apply to” list.
