Boarding school stipends?

I heard about stipends provided by the schools to students with demonstrated need, but have been able to find very little information about this.
I know that Exeter provides computer stipends and Choate has Icahn Scholars. I’ve heard that Andover does this and also gives weekly spending stipends but theres nothing about it on their site or on this forum. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks!!

I know our school, not one on your list, provided funds for high need students for everything from travel to and from school to weekend activities to room decor. I don’t know how it worked but am pretty sure it wasn’t an out and out stipend to use completely freely.

Some schools provide an “allowance” type stipend paid either per semester or per week. (e.g. $350/term or $25/week) Only people on full financial aid would receive this. Many schools also provide a stipend or credit for books and classroom related supplies.

Hotchkiss gives every incoming student a laptop, regardless of their financial situation. They also provide generous (sometimes full) financial aid for travel (eg when the soccer teams went to Spain). They may provide a more general stipend, but you would have to verify that with the financial aid office directly.

College visits - Lawrenceville provides money for students to attend college visits (airfare, hotel). But I think its fairly limited based on student need.

Loomis Chaffee offers additional support to LC Scholars. I don’t know if the aid is offered to regular FA students.
