bodies exhibit

has anyone seen the bodies exhibit at south street seaport in NY? im going tomorrow and i just wanted to know if its cool or gross. it looks rather interesting but im not sure i can handle it

I think the same exhibit (if you are talking about the embalmed and skinned bodies) was here in Cleveland last summer. They were cool, but I like dissection and anatomy. You may be different.

well i like anatomy i just hate blood. i would love to be a doctor but blood makes me quesy. weird, i know

We saw this exhibit in San Francisco. I found it interesting, amazing, gross, weird and different. Some of the exhibits have bodies posed in everyday activities: i.e. riding a bike, or batting a ball. They do not have skin on them, so the muscle or bone structure is on display. The bodies have been “plasticized”. One display has a man holding his skin folded over a wire hanger like a suit of clothes. It is also amazing to see the miles of blood vessels that make up the human circulatory system. You will learn a lot and won’t forget the exhibit. It is however, creepy, and one has to wonder about the people on display.

Then don’t ever become a surgeon, prepchick91! And no, there is no blood at the exhibit, just the vascular system.

haha, I ended up seeing it twice. My grandfather took me to it in Cleveland and kept saying “it was a once in a lifetime experience.” I went again a month later with NASA SHARP to the one in Chicago. Its pretty interesting, not as gross as I originally thought.

zpmqxonw, for what other reason were in you in my hometown (Cleveland)?

with what you all said…i think i can handle it

Kman1456, I was in Cleveland for my cousin’s bat mitzvah. Lots of relatives back in Ohio, so we usually go back 1-2 times a year.

P.S. prepchick91, its not really as gross as it sounds. I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine also. It reminded me a lot of like in anatomy classes where they have a model of the human skeleton. And I agree with whoever posted about the arteries. It was amazing to see all of them.

haha cool thanks . im excited now. do they allow cameras in the exhibit?

Not another Beachwood man…
They probably do allow cameras, since they are not paintings, and this is not an art exhibit.

haha, you’re half right… But, I’m not a man ;)

I was half right on the place? The only other place that has a lot of Jewish is Lyndhurst and Shaker Heights, which means you were within a few blocks of me at some point. And sadly, I would not have guessed you were a female.

haha, its okay…Yeah, you were right on the place. I’ve got relatives all over Ohio (Beachwood, Solon, and Columbus?). Are you from Cleveland?

Yes, I am; I live right next door to Beachwood and have attended classes there, although I mostly spend my time in the place right to the west, Shaker Heights. Most of my HS teachers live in Solon.
