Bojangles

Hi everyone, I’m an upcoming senior who has dreams of getting into Harvard or Stanford. I have pushed myself academically throughout high school, and I am now getting ready to apply to colleges. Currently I’m on my summer break, and I am interested in getting a job. I have gotten a job offer at Bojangles as a cashier, and I wanted to know if taking this opportunity would help or harm my chances of getting into an Ivy League school. I know that these type of schools are socioeconomically unequal and getting a job at a fast-food restaurant doesn’t look like I’m the Bill Gates of my city. I am really interested in working here, but I wanted to know if it was the right thing to do for my future. Please help

There are many possible reasons why you could accept a position as a cashier, ranging from wanting to earn a little extra spending money to supporting you or your family to gaining employment experience. I don’t think a cashier position should “hurt” your application.

This

trumps over this

You are not hurting yourself by doing what means more to you than what you think means more to others.
