Some say that playing sports actually helps people do better academically. Personally, I do not like playing team sports because of the enormous time lost to it and unnecessary pressure which could be avoided simply by visiting a few friends and playing sports with them over the weekend. Does it help at all to play a team sport?

if you’re really good at it (i.e. good enough to play for a college team) it can make getting into school much, much easier.

i have to say, playing a sport well has its advantages… being a recruited D 1 lacrosse player is really helping the college admissions process along. and i would have to agree with the idea that playing sports helps people do better academically… the time restraints force me to budget my time more efficiently.

It will help you if you’re good or if you really love the sport, but don’t play a team sport just for college. You’ll hate it.
