Bombed my last Ochem 2 exam...

So, I have heard numerous times that Ochem curve is fairly huge(double curve?), but I think it’s an exception in my school, or at least my professor

I had 89, 69, and 50 so far on my ochem exams, and currently my grade is C-. Fortunately, our professor has decided to give all of us opportunities to make some of the missing points, but even so, assuming I do my best on this extra credit, it would still be 75. Also, I m not sure if I will be able to get A on this course at the end of semester, even after the lowest score is replaced by my final…

I had B- in Ochem 1, and I don’t want to get another B in this Ochem. My biggest concern is: provided that all my other courses are in good shape(at least A-), will B on two ochem classes negatively affect to significant degrees? Will the officers assume this is curved grade?

Thanks…

Please don’t blame your professor for your grades. It’s what you have earned. Someone must getting high grades on the exams and As in the class–just not you.

Also each professor handles class grading differently. Some professor curve after test results are in or at the end of the semester to get a normal curve distribution; some design/grade their exam so no curve adjustments are needed. (It takes some practice, but the latter really isn’t hard to do.)

But to answer your question, no, 2 Bs by themselves won’t keep you out of med school.

(If however, they have other low science Bs to keep them company, or if your B/B MCAT score is weak, that’s a whole other issue……)

Please be aware that a C- is not considered a passing grade for med school admission and will require a retake.
