Bombed- sunk- kaput?

I bombed, I mean bombed my SAT II Lit- 450. Math II was 700.

I am still in shock. Brain Fart, I just don’t know. It is very discouraging to have worked so hard.

Should I even still apply?

I planned to either apply to Bienen or Weinberg with Music minor

If you haven’t done it already, just don’t submit the SAT II’s. They’re not required, only recommended.

^^I agree.
How were your SATs and/or ACTs?

I have already submitted my scores. SAT was 2170

Thanks

I accidentally made the same mistake of choosing to send my scores before I saw them. I got a 620 on Chemistry (not a 450 but…) but I got a 3 on AP chem.

Honestly, I think they’d understand that you have weaknesses/you make mistakes and as long as the rest of your application is good, you have a good shot at getting in.

Also, your writing score on your application does absolutely nothing, it seems. So you should post your SAT -writing.

What is your SAT without writing.

And I don’t know the answer to this. If I say a 450 and I were an admissions officer, I’d decline. But the rest of your app looks really good, that is so unfortunate that one test can skew it so much. This is why I always wait to see my scores before I send them.

I really don’t think they’re going to reject you over an optional part of the application. While you’re not going to look as good as an applicant with two great SAT II scores, I imagine you would look the same as or possibly even better than (due to your 700 on math) someone who did not submit SAT II scores at all.

It’s not going to help, but I don’t think it will make or break the app if it’s inconsistent with the rest of your profile. You could’ve been very sick that day or something. Probably what they will do is scrutinize your regular SAT scores (CR+W), application essays, transcript (grades in English and other humanities classes), and recommendations more carefully to see if you really have a weakness in reading comprehension/composition.

That said, if you want to be safe, when is the next testing date for SAT IIs? December right? What about the AP Lit exam? Maybe you can send in a second score from the SAT or AP exams to counteract that. What about a recommendation from an English professor? Whatever you can do to prove to them it’s a one time thing, would probably help, but again, I see this more as a “lack of a strength” thing rather than a “weakness” thing.

Writing on the SAT was 710. Still in shock but I have to move on

Thanks for the responses, encouragement and ideas. A letter from my Lit teacher is very possible
