Bombing hits BostonMarathon

If the NY Post has the correct photos, then they are very irresponsible in making them public when the FBI/police have not done so. They may be responsible for alerting the suspects and causing them to flee.

If they are not the correct photos, then they have attached unwarranted suspicion to innocent men.

I think that either of these scenarios should be a crime.

One grows weary of the media. But, it’s like a bad marriage in the 18th century. Where else can you go?

On another website I was looking at, amateur sleuths had identified numerous “suspicious” people from crowd photos, including multiple people with black backpacks. There are lots of black backpacks out there. I think care must be taken to avoid circulating pictures of innocent people.

I dont get why they havent released the photos. People want to help if they can but right now there are so many circled pictures out there its just confusion. If the the FYI released the photos of 10 people they wanted to talk to then 8 would come right forward.

There is a video on youtube of this. People are saying its not looting, but it sure looks like a “shopping spree” by SWPL types grabbing running gear from an unattended booth.

I guess I agree with this, but how likely is it, really, that these people wouldn’t–at least by now–realize that there may be images of them available to the authorities?

Shame on NY Post again, those pictures of 2 young men are local high school kids who already talked to the authority and have been cleared. Those pictures are facebook pictures that they posted on their own facebook accounts that someone fished out of.

So sad if there is looting.

I’d never paid any attention to the post before this. They’re absolutely disgusting. I kinda hope all the people they’ve vilified sue the heck out of them. They deserve it and generally I’m against lawsuits.

Are they a real news source or are they like the magazines which constantly publish aliens stories?

ttparent, and now their photos, and perhaps names, will be eternally on the internet connected to this awful crime. What a shame! Would they be able to sue the Post?

…the rush to find images that meet stereotypes of extremists.

lookingforward, that’s exactly what I was thinking.

The Daily Show did a hilarious bit on CNN’s reporting yesterday, featuring Jon Oliver. The video is available on the internet. I laughed out loud.

I saw the pictures yesterday morning at some website. I’ve read reports of image sites with crowdsourced analysis so they may have made discoveries independent of what the FBI found. I also read an article at Slashdot yesterday talking about Boston-area high-tech companies working on support technologies for investigation and other things related to terrorism. If the persons in the pictures recognizes themselves, then they could just call the FBI or police to clear their names.

"ttparent, and now their photos, and perhaps names, will be eternally on the internet connected to this awful crime. What a shame! Would they be able to sue the Post? "

If you read the article carefully, NY Post has a small paragraph eluding to another 2 young men being sought for questioning. I think that was the little way out for the post by saying the pictures go along with that part of the article. Very slimy.

New information, then. I’m interested in more updates from your source for this information. How did these two guys get this picture to post on their Facebook site? Inquiring minds would like to know. Who are they and what high school do they attend?

Indeed that is what all of us would instantly do, and perhaps what they did do. Although it can be difficult to “prove” that you didn’t do something. But if they still have the packages that police believe may have been bombs, then it will help redirect the investigation sooner rather than later.

Oh, a lot “more” than this can happen. Look at an events timeline of 1967 & 1968.

Chicago tornados killed 60. Teachers strike across the nation.

Assassinations in the US of MLK, Robert Kennedy and the leader of the American Nazi Party.

North Korea captures the USS Pueblo. 6 days war. China tested its first hydrogen bomb Increases in income taxes specifically to finance the Viet Nam War.

159 riots in the US from April to the end of 1967. LOTS of looting. Then the 1968 Democratic convention.

My Lai Massacre happened in 1967 and was disclosed in 1968. The largest single daily loss of lives of American soldiers in Viet Nam occurred (548? as I recall).

They’re kids! It’s no one’s business who they are or where they go to school.

"New information, then. I’m interested in more updates from your source for this information. How did these two guys get this picture to post on their Facebook site? Inquiring minds would like to know. Who are they and what high school do they attend? "

I got the information from the comment section of a related article on boston.com. Again, this is not official and from something similar to forum postings but the whole thing started by some hackers that search for stuff on the internet and found these and published them on facebook account. The young men already went to the authority and cleared their names according to the comments. Again, info is hazy.

Read comment section of article below:

There are several other sites reporting that these two are local students, and that they aren’t in the law enforcement pictures.

I’m never surprised about how people react anymore. On 9/12/2001, a local hotel was being evacuated due to a bomb scare. Despite the horror of the previous day, and the knowledge that such things really can now happen here, people flocked to the entrance of the hotel to watch, just as if a celebrity were coming out. Unbelievable.

This event makes me fear for America’s safety, but after reading comments on several different websites, I fear more for our soul.
