Book Award

My daughter received a University of Maryland Book award at her high school awards ceremony the other night. I don’t even know what this means. Does anyone know whether it carries any weight if she’s applying next year? She visited last year and loved it.

The committee which selected the students who received these Book Awards was comprised of teachers at her current high school. The book was some random book (on sale - clearance - with the price tag still on!) We got a good laugh!

This award would certainly be one that your daughter would put on her “resume” (UMd has both an application and also requests you to attach a resume). Any high school or community awards are good to include here. I don’t know if the book award would hold any more weight than another award, but because it was selected by the faculty, it says good things about her. Good luck!
