Book on brain research on sleep and performance

I wanted to recommend Learn Faster, Perform Better by Molly Gebrian. Since college kids are notorious for putting sleep at the bottom of their priorities, this brain research on mastering skills and performance is fascinating. She is a great writer, too, so it is easy to comprehend. (So much so that I’m having my 15 yod read it this summer.)

A simple insight…..sleep improves mastery over non-stop practice. She gives solid examples about sleep and how it improves mastery both more quickly and long-term retention. She also shares research on how practices should vary skills in shorter sessions than one long practice repeating the same skill over and over.

I’m glad it was recommended to me. I think it will improve my dd’s practice strategies.

I’m also a huge fan of this book, and not just because a violist wrote it!
