Book Tracking App

I am worried that I might have to start using a different book tracking application on my iPhone. The app I’ve used for years (“Library List”) does not appear to be supported any more, and I need to look at other options. Anyone have thoughts? Minimum general functionality I’m looking for.

  • Track name, author, status (read/want to read), and be able to put in at least short notes
  • Ability to sort the list by name or author
  • Ability to import or export list of books from the app

Would be great to be able to:

  • Sort by status (so I could just pull up the unread stuff, for example)
  • Scan an ISBN and have the name & author populate
  • Be able to enter/mark the year I read the book (right now I put it in the notes and sort by the notes to figure that out)
  • Get metrics on what I’ve read
  • Maybe have some genre tracking of some kind so I could get metrics on that, too.

I know a lot of people use Goodreads now to track their lists – for various reasons I’d rather not use them – but maybe that is what has knocked apps like this off the market? I don’t mind, I guess, if the data is stored in the Cloud vs on the phone. But it is super important data to me… so I don’t want to risk losing it.

Does anyone have any iPhone apps to suggest?

I’ m also interested. I use to use Shelfari but then it was bought out by Amazon and then Goodreads ( or maybe Amazon bought Goodreads) either way, I didn’t like it as much.

I have used Goodreads for years and it works for me. I like the lists I can create, the scanning feature, the friends feature, etc. I do think it’s a “go to” app for many people. Sorry you don’t want to use it!

Just hate to give Amazon one more ounce of power in the publishing industry. They are already ruining it, and I prefer not to play any part in helping them along.
