Books and Voting?

Books
In my Math 20C class I am given an option of a few books:
[Required] Multivariable Calculus
[Required] *2 Calculus Early Transcendentals (text+questionnaire)
[Optional] Multivariable Calculus Solutions Manual
[Optional] Calculus Early Transcendentals
[Optional] *2 Multivariable Calculus Bundle (text+mv Soln Man)

Now, I was told by a family member of mine (who is NOT in UCSD) that I can just ignore the two required books and instead get the first two optional books instead. Is that really true? Or do I have to just get the two required books?

Voting
So in the class registration URL, there is a bullet point that says:
“Register or re-register with the California Secretary of State to vote in local, state and national elections”

Does that I am required to register to vote in order to stay in my classes or no?

No you dont have to register to vote to stay in your classes

You only need to buy the first one called Multivariable Calculus.

The Calculus Early Transcendentals isn’t required?

Calculus Early Transcendentals is for Math 20A/B/C. Multivariable is for 20C only.
