Books for Exeter, Andover, Deefield?

Hi, I’m applying for Exeter, Andover, and Deerfield.
I’ve heard that during the interviews they usually ask for your favorite book/movie.
I don’t really have a favorite movie or a sophisticated favorite book… Suggestions?
Thanks!

When you say you don’t have a “sophisticated favorite book,” does that mean your favorite book isn’t like…ideal? or do you just not have one? Because I was actually just reading Andover’s Dean’s Journal online, and she had this post saying that the best way to prepare for Andover was by reading, and it didn’t really matter what. So just say your favorite book or mention that you don’t have one, but mention another book you’ve read recently.

Don’t worry about being “sophisticated”; just think about the books and movies you’ve enjoyed recently and why. Chances are its because they connect to something about you that would be interesting to discuss in an interview. That connection is all you need–the book could be Curious George if it showed something interesting about you.

Paperideas- I mean that my favorite book would be something like Eragon or something like that…

Then tell them that! (lol alliteration) I don’t think anyones really heard of my favorite book (looking for Alaska, which ironically happens at a boarding school) and I’m planning on telling them that…

I’ve read looking for Alaska! I’m planning on saying (if asked) a Sebastien Faulks novel, or maybe George Orwell. Both of which I loved, and also sound pretty good!

UKgirl23- What books by Sebastian Faulks and George Orwell did you enjoy the most?

Birdsong and Homage to Catalonia (1984 was a bit too disturbing) I really suggest reading them, although if you’re not into European history you might find them both a little boring.
