I’m a freshman and I will be taking W131 this fall…
When I check the IU bookstore, the book required for W131 is
“READING CRITICALLY,WRITING WELL”.
But no one sells this book on IU classified, most people are selling
“Rules for Writers”,“Readings for Analytical Writing,”,and “Writing Analytically”
and none of these three books are on the W131 required book list(IU bookstore).

I took W131 last semester and used “Writing Analytically”, but this book is no longer going to be used for W131 beginning in the fall of 2012. So you are going to have to wait and see exactly which book will be assigned for you. This said, I felt writing analytically was a pretty helpful book to have at times so if you could pick up a copy for real cheap, it may be worth your while.

I took W131 as a high school senior. As long as you stay on top of your work/readings, the class is easy to do well in. But I would recommend getting the book actually listed. They switch the books for this class often.
