Books, Volumes, Editions

So instead of ordering books for LTEN21, I was able to get The Norton Anthology of English Lit Volume A & B for less than half the price. However, Volume A is 8th edition (required) but Volume B is 7th edition. I looked up the details of the 8th edition and all I could find was:

“Firmly grounded by the hallmark strengths of all Norton Anthologies—thorough and helpful introductory matter, judicious annotation, complete texts wherever possible—The Norton Anthology of English Literature has been revitalized in this Eighth Edition through the collaboration between six new editors and six seasoned ones. Under the direction of Stephen Greenblatt, General Editor, the editors have reconsidered all aspects of the anthology to make it an even better teaching tool.”

I emailed the professor on Tuesday but have gotten no response.

One major difference I found was that the 7th edition is longer, by like, 300 pages O_O;;

So my question is, do you think it will really make a difference in the course if I have the 7th edition?

Its up to you, the professors don’t make it mandatory you buy the correct edition, but they also say that they don’t hold any responsibilities for edition differences. It’s obviously best if you get the edition that they use, but if you really want to just use an older one, you’re still gonna be held accountable for any new/changed information that may not be in the older edition you have.
