<p>I’ve been planning on writing the place of contentedness common app prompt about my local bookstore. Apparently, this is a bit of a cliche. I was planning on kind of mapping out my growth as an individual through my experiences in this bookstore over time- i.e. not a “curling up in the corner and reading/people watching” essay but more of a vehicle for describing my broader personality. Is this a topic I should veer away from? </p>
<p>Generally, yes, bookstores are cliche, but if you have a unique story, it could work.</p>
<p>I agree (I am a complete bibliophile, so I was very disappointed when I first read this opinion). I’m using the “background or story unique to my identity” prompt to write about my love of books and how it’s changed over the years (I want to be a librarian), so maybe that’s something you could kind of do?</p>
