Boosting from 2100s to 2300s in 15 days?

I got a 2080 in the Oct test, retaking in Dec test.
My last last test was in Jan, got 1890.

The 2080 might be faulty because I took it in Hong Kong with only 10,000 people, which has a different test date, which also means a different test paper thus different score range.

I’ve always gotten 2200 and 2300s in the mocks I did with past papers, so you can imagine my shock. I’ve finished all available past papers from 2005 to 2014 May, all Barrons’ prep books and most of the Official Guide questions. I’m memorizing vocabulary every day and still doing some exercises here and there. What else should I do really? I’m so desperate to get my scores up because I’m applying to Ivy League schools, and have to get my score to the 2300s in December!

My last score breakdown:
Reading-650
Maths-740
Writing-690 (essay:10)

I don’t have problems with vocabulary as I know I just have to memorize words and I usually just get 2 wrong. But reading’s been killing me. I’m a fast reader, but sometimes I don’t completely understand the passages. I’ve been doing all sorts of exercises everywhere and nothing had helped that much. The mocks I did were usually 720s though.

Maths’ a killer in that I had never ever gotten a 800. Careless and careless. Guess that’s not something I can control now? Should I ignore maths and spend my time doing reading and writing only for these few days?

I often get about 1 or 2 wrong in MCs, and that Oct test grammar was really weird. But I’ve never gotten completely right MCs, what should I do? I do have a book that collects all my previous errors, but I still make errors while doing it because I get really scared and unconfident during the actual test.

Please help!!!

bump pls help :(

Which book are the practice tests coming from that you’re using to get these scores?

Forget math. That’s a fine score. I’d get Erica Meltzer’s The Critical Reader and use that for CR. Then write a bunch of practice essays and use Ms Meltzer’s website for writing. Good luck

@Matt846‌ I used Kaplan and Barrons and of course CB’s
@icepierre‌ I’ve heard a lot about Meltzer’s Critical Reader, but what’s its approach? I feel like I have enough technique and developed my own way to do questions, but I just can’t get a high score…

You’re score indicates that it’d be beneficial. If you want to increase your score substantially, you need to modify the way you approach this section of the test. The book literally includes anything you might need. You can choose which sections to use. Adapt what she advises to fit your style. I think it would help you. It is a bit expensive, though. If nothing else, I would take this approach: instead of trying to identify the correct answer, find WHY each of the others is INCORRECT. This is essential. This way, you avoid justifying the wrong answers. This is what helped me go from mediocre to very good. Good luck!

Thanks for the insight!! How about Maths, how do you suggest that I can get a 800 apart from doing exercises? I don’t seem to be poor in a particular topic

Just wanna let you guys know that I’ve been accepted to Northwestern already! Thanks again for your input.
