What do you guys think is considered borderline? I noticed that many people have been getting emails from schools requesting supplemental information with essays and such and I’m curious :o

What GPA do you guys think is considered borderline, below average, and above average? Mine’s a 3.43 so I’m pretty worried…already got accepted into UCSB for econ but waiting for UCI, UCSD, and UCLA.

It depends what major you are. I would say your borderline for UCI, UCSB, and UCSD, but a very far reach for UCLA (UCLA’s bizecon average GPA is 3.93).

There are many factors that play into it, not just GPA. It could very well be that the rest of your application is outstanding and your GPA is what is keeping you on the fence. Or vice versa. Maybe you were lacking in EC’s and that is why the school is contacting you about supplementary information. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Being borderline can be a double-edged sword.

@bomerr really? that makes me feel a little better i guess cause my GPA is ~3.73-3.8 not quite sure and my absolute dream school is UC Berkeley. however im applying for biochem for UCLA which is pretty competitive already and chemical biology for Berk, not quite sure how competitive that major is but im sure its still pretty competitive since its Berkeley n all ya know

@mike194 I haven’t received a supplemental either but I’ve noticed a couple people on the website have gotten it. I’m an econ major and I got accepted to SB already but I heard that they accept almost everyone who completed their eng and math requirement already…I’m just worried cus I want irvine so bad!

I was a 3.4 GPA, bordered line applicant for Math/Econ @ UCLA (easier to get in than Econ or Bizecon) fortunately I was on the right side of the border… whew.
