Borderline Student getting decline because of...

Lets say that a borderline student with stats of 3.6 gpa weighted and 1980 sats applied to NYU but since he’s not an exceptionally great student in the looks of NYU, will they be more likely to decline him since on his parents do not make over $24,000 a year, which can be seen on the fafsa report sent.
Will they be more likely to decline him and accept someone else with lets say lower stats but higher income due to NYU’s high tuition?

No, no, and no. NYU is need-blind through and through. The admissions counselors cannot see your income when reviewing your app. They will get a clue at your socioeconomic background through other things, though, and that will probably more help you than hurt you.

^^ Correct.
