I’m applying RD. Kind of nervous, but my essays are both deeply personal and I think I have strong stats/ECs/recs. Hopefully it goes well. Does BC have interviews?
Just noticed this on the BC website:
Special Announcement:
Notification of invitation to the candidates selected for Gabelli Presidential Scholars Program interviews (GPSP Selection Process) will go out in early to mid-January by the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Please note, due to the large volume of applicants who applied by the November 1 deadline, we are only able to notify those students who were selected to be interviewed.
I just saw the date change over the weekend on the Early Decision vs. Regular Decision page under the section discussing Gabelli. It looks like the invitations soon and on campus weekend will be in February and not March.
“Finalists for the Gabelli Presidential Scholars Program will be notified of their status in early January. These students will be invited to Boston College at our expense for interviews and evaluation in mid-February.”
@lovedis No, is it by email or snail mail? It says on the website “Notification of invitation to the candidates selected for Gabelli Presidential Scholars Program interviews (GPSP Selection Process) was mailed on January 9th by the Office of Undergraduate Admission.”
How would you interpret a D1 coach “flagging” your application?
How much leeway do the cie he’s get? Student meets school requirements for BC and is part of AHANA.
Really depends on where the coach ranks the kid. Is the applicant the coach’s #1 recruit or #10? (The point being that coaches don’t get all their recruits thru.) What sport? A main Rev sport, or an Olympic sport which generally has bunch of priority walk-ons? And of corse, Hockey, which is big at BC?
My daughter received a package with information about the Gebelli Scholarship and a letter telling her she was a finalist. She was invited to campus interview Feb 12-15. BC will cover travel expenses.
Long time CC reader here, DS now a Senior so I feel like I can participate in discussions. My DS applied RD, also received his admissions packet with letter stating he was a Gabelli PSP finalist. The packet was mailed through UPS, Next-Day Air; we live on the west coast and received the packet yesterday, 1/10.
Just wondering if anyone knows, in years past, have there been any sessions for parents while the students are interviewing? Didn’t see anything in the packet or website.
I live on the west coast and have not received mail yet though the USPS in my area is notoriously bad at keeping track of and delivering mail. Is there still a chance of getting a letter or no? Has anyone else on the west coast received one?
