Anyone here work for BCG, or have a son/daughter who has applied for/worked in an Associate position? I’ve been speaking with one of the on-campus recruiters and am very interested in applying, but before being contacted by them thought consulting was something only Econ or Business majors were able to do (I’m a Psych major, German minor but have done a lot of work on campus and enjoy the ‘fast paced, always moving’ lifestyle). Looking for any opinions or suggestions from those with experience.

My D subletted an apt in Philly from a girl who did a summer internship with BCG in Chicago.
This amazing girl was enrolled in Wharton MBA and Penn Medical School- receiving a dual degree last year.

I know several recent engineering majors who are now working for consulting companies now, and there are a variety of majors in their training classes.
Great opportunity- go for it.

BCG is the top tier consulting firm in the world that everyone would kill to get in. Grace, I am sure you will excel in the company, based on your performace at those O-week meetings. I wish my DD one day can be as good as you are. Perhaps you can put down your service on cc as Ecs? :)

And never change your glasses, they look sophistcated! lol…

DS works at a similar firm and, though he was an econ major, his colleagues come from many different backgrounds (history, engineering, etc.) This thread is very informative on the subject: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/474315-what-consulting.html

I have a friend who knows someone who has worked at BCG both in the U.S. and in Canada, although he just left them recently. If you’d like me to make contact and get his email address, I’d be happy to do so. You can click on my username and send me an email (I noticed you don’t have PMs enabled) with your real name so that I can pass that along to him.
