I’m planning a college visit trip to see Bryant, Bentley, Babson, and BU. BU’s website makes the parking sound like a nightmare, so I’m thinking it would be ideal to stay as possible, park the car at the hotel, and then walk to BU.
Does anyone know of a hotel within walking distance? I looked on BU’s website, but I didn’t see a list of recommended hotels.
@TomSrOfBoston, Perfect! I’m booking it!! That’s exactly what I’m looking for - - a place that can deal with the rental car while we tour BU and get me out of there with minimal hassle. Thank you so much.
We visited BU during the summer and found parking. Although it was 6 years ago, I don’t recall finding a space being difficult at all. We stayed in a hotel outside city limits.
@MaineLonghorn, normally I’d be totally up for dealing with the T, but we are trying to see two schools on the same day - - one in the suburbs - - so have to be able to depart quickly after the BU tour in order to make it to the other school.
BU had some info about one of the key T stops being possibly closed/under construction, and I just don’t want to deal with it while rushing.
I went to Wellesley, but haven’t been back in soooo long. Glad to have some advice!
@LBowie and @Bromfield2, Thanks so much for chiming in!! Great point, LBowie, on the parking perhaps being more possible in the summer. But I’m just going to splurge on the good hotel and not worry about it.
@FlyMeToTheMoon, Figures! The BU website makes it sound like a total nightmare with big bold language about taking public transportation. I’m sure I’m over worrying - - but we need to hightail it out of there and get to Bentley - - which seems certainly doable, but with the traffic, etc. I just want to be sure.
If you’re staying in Copley Square, you don’t need to take the subway–it’s only about a half-mile walk.
There is also the Hyatt in Cambridge, which is just across the bridge from BU. Also a nice walk.
Driving/parking in Kenmore Square (which is where BU is located, sort of) is a challenge indeed. About 85 roads come together there (I think it’s actually 6, but it’s a very messy intersection). When DH and I were dating (1982), I lived about 1/4 mile west of Kenmore Square and one (rush-hour) morning I stalled my car in the middle of the traffic. It is to his great credit that he got my car running instead of denying that he knew me and abandoning me there. There were a LOT of very annoyed people swerving way too close around my car while he was unclogging the carburetor.
