In short why can’t UMass have a top Div. 1 football team. Again, take this series with a grain of salt. Granted, UMass-Amherst is under-funded, but UMass also has three other campuses that need to be funded, not just Amherst, and those campuses add over 25,000 students to the system making the whole college system much larger than UConn. the article never mentions Lowell, Dartmouth, or Boston, which are the other campuses the state funds.
