Congrats to everyone who got in!

Accepted!
stats: 1460 SAT, 3.94 GPA, bunch of Extracurriculars that were not TOOOO impressive, but still held lots of leadership roles (president, co founder, etc) and some awards (again, not too impressive, your average National honor society, Science team state championships, national latin exam, etc…)

Accepted to College of Arts & Sciences!!

rejected from CAS (i think? i don’t remember what i applied for)

sat: 1400 (680 m, 720 r)
gpa: 3.3 uw, 4.1 weighted (very low esp. for BU)
pretty basic “why BU” essay too i will not lie

i’ve already committed to fordham u + never showed any demonstrated interest in BU (didn’t even tour the school) but i had already sent in my test scores so thought i might as well finish off the application lol

Accepted for January admission General Studies. Superscore 34 ACT, 3.9 UW multiple varsity sports. Probably won’t attend, since this wasn’t first choice

Rejected. 35 ACT and 4.4 weighted, not sure what to think.

@maglor1 Congrats!
Im applying to BU next year! Can you share your stats just so that I can see what they look for in the Trustee scholarship?
Thank you so much!

@krittycole I’m in the same boat. Same ACT score and same GPA, rejected for biochemistry. I had some impressive extracurriculars, too.

Personally I think I didn’t try to display enough interest, so I feel like it was too obvious BU wasn’t a top choice. That or I underestimated how selective they’d be… Now I feel like I won’t get in anywhere…

Got accepted into the CGS Boston-London Program
Stats:

SAT: 1390
GPA: out of 100 so 97.8
took a total of 8 APs

Extra curriculars:

Captain of Girls Varsity Swim Team at my school
Did track for all 3 seasons my junior year
President of Smiles for MIles (volunteering club)
Did a leadership program for NYC DOE
worked at a human rights organization

Essays:

Common app essay: 8/10
Supplement: 8/10
did not visit or show much interest bc i didnt think i would get in lol

@user_743245
Sure.

I have a 1580 SAT (780 Math, 800 Reading)
42/45 IB Predicted (I’m international so I don’t have a GPA, but my transcript is all As except one B freshman year)

My D was accepted as a CFA scholar for Vocal Performance. Thrilled! However, curious? How were your awards? I was really surprised how little scholarship money BU offered my daughter…Considering the praise she received audition weekend. Perhaps the merit awards at BU are more need based than talent based? She only received $5,000 (renewable each year). So, let’s just say her dream school of $77,000 is not going to happen. Thankfully, she received a full academic scholarship to Duquesne University w partial room and board scholarship (includes study abroad) and direct admit pre-med (she will dual major in vocal performance); and Syracuse U made her a near equal scholarship offer. It is so hard to make these decisions. Boston U is such a great school by comparison but, it is financially untouchable.

does anyone know when financial aid awards will be released?

@millismom my D’s aid package was in her acceptance email. There was an individual tab to click on to view the financial aid package. (Ours included a small grant, subsidized loan option, and her scholarship offer.)

@user_464093 You said in another thread that you were already accepted to Penn State and UMich, two very good schools.

@kidzcatz Yeah, I was, but I didn’t get great financial aid and without outside scholarships I can’t go. I was really hoping for BU to accept me and to get Trustees… That and I have a lot of upper-tier decisions coming out this week.

@user_464093 Do you have any affordable acceptances? Did you apply to any schools with guaranteed merit? Any instate public schools you can commute to? I know Penn State is notorious for poor to no financial aid. I wouldn’t even allow my daughter to apply there, as I knew we wouldn’t be able to afford it (and we are instate). Michigan gives better aid to lower income students but COA for most OOS students is very high. Hopefully you’ll have one or more acceptances later this week.

@kidzcatz Yeah, I have a near-full ride to U of Arizona, my choice of in-state schools, but it’s not that great of a school. Most in Arizona aren’t, so if I go I’ll probably try to transfer. I’m a legacy for Penn State, which is why it was my first choice safety, but I feel horrible about making my family pay that price tag. In hindsight, I wish I applied to more match schools, like UCSD, UT schools, ect.

@kidzcatz Oh, I forgot, I have guaranteed merit at Baylor.

Waitlisted - 33 ACT 35 superscored. 97 GPA. My letters of rec were really good I assume, and I have a lot of good ECs that I am dedicated to. My essays were really generic and I showed no demonstrated interest in the school so I think that’s where I went wrong. I’m not accepting the waitlist spot because I honestly didn’t click with the campus. I was accepted to Northeastern with a really nice scholarship, so I think that’s the place for me
