So i was admitted into College of General Studies and I’m doing the Boston-London abroad thing and I start Jan 2021. Do we still have to pay full for one semester?? Seems unfair.

Accepted to the College of Engineering! Was quite surprised given the fact that my stats were a bit low. I think the amount of work I put into my essays and strong teacher recommendations really paid off!!
SAT: 1520(780 EBRW, 740 Math, 7/5/7 essay)
GPA: 3.75(unweighted), 4.56(weighted)
13 AP classes(Biology, Chemistry, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, English Language, English Literature, European History, Physics 1, Spanish Language, Statistics, US History, US Government and Politics)-average of 3.62
Attended BU visits since sophomore year and really dug deep into how I would be a part of the BU community through my essays
Meaningful extracurriculars(job as a math tutor, school peer tutor, part of music clubs, NHS) and leadership(started a school volunteering club for students interested in medicine)
Just got accepted to CAS. I’m super happy now. I will definitely attend.
Asian male, international
Major: Computer Science
SAT: 1430
GPA: 3.5
No AP, school doesn’t rank.
Very very impressive extracurriculars & projects involving CS
Some national prizes
Great letter of recommendations
@maglor1 Congratulations!! I got accepted a while back during ED2 into biomedical engineering. How were you notified of trustee scholarship? I haven’t gotten any scholarship updates yet and i heard mixed responses abt the ways people get notified lol.
Anyways, thats an awesome achievement, hope to see you around this fall!
@LiamnHenson You do not pay tuition for fall, 2020 because you will not be in school. You will pay full tuition for spring and summer.
Son guaranteed admission to CAS fall 2021. Great Essays, lots of EC’s Weighted GPA 4.25 AP’s 2 subject tests (over 700) over 200 hours medical shadow.
Low SAT scores 1260
Initially was disappointed but after examining it unemotionally.
So the drawback is putting off full college experience for a year.
Attend state university 2 semesters take the core classes save Over $50,000 transfer in 2021 as a sophomore
Ultimately his decision, but I am encouraging him to look long term 10 year plan and decide wisely
The more I think about it the better it is sounding.
accepted to COM for journalism
33 act
4.00 GPA unweighted (my school doesn’t do weighted GPA or class ranks)
8 AP classes
co-president of speech and debate, captain of varsity swim team, lifeguard, and in mock trial
strong recs (especially from my english teacher which probably helped for my major)
My son got waitlisted, which we have declined . He is an International student, had applied to Engg ( ME ) . Stats - SAT 1520 , SAT subject tests : Maths 2 (800) , Physics ( 800) . He already has admissions offers from Purdue , UIUC , UMass Amherst , etc so not so disappointing after all though some of the BU tactics such as urging my son to register for ED2 and now the guaranteed admissions with one year deferral do strike a bit strange ( and unique of course) .
Good luck to everyone and congratulations to everyone who got in to BU .

Hey I got SMED too! we should make a groupchat on fb for everyone to commuicate togther
I understand the financial aid award for CGS is per semester and hence (for CGS) will be multiplied x 3 (Spring, Summer and Fall) for 2021. Does anyone know if that is correct?
And also, the financial aid award says “tentative” , so what is needed to finalize it and be 100% sure before committing to enroll?
@864346
NO; if you apply to the BU SMED, you either get into the program (and thus the undergrad) or you don’t get anything at all. Its not like other BSMD programs where you can get into the undergrad even after they reject you from the BSMD.
@GK
Hey I got into SMED too; we should create a groupchat for all the SMED people we find
@legobugatti There is one already and communication is great! See the BSMD2020 applicant thread for more details. A SMED 1 created that.
Do you guys know how many applications there were this year?
@miami1 Pretty sure that it is for spring and summer. Fall would be the next academic year.
@maglor1 So glad to see someone in honors received a scholarship!! Congratulations!
National Merit finalist DD got accepted with some scholarship (~$12000 per year grant) but she didn’t put BU as her first choice by 3/1, which BU requires applicants to get offered $25000 national merit scholarship.
She is still waiting for RD results from other schools (including USC, which is another NMF favoring college)
If she decides to attend BU, can we change the first choice now, and ask BU to consider offering $25000 NM scholarship? How strict is the 3/1 “first choice” deadline for NM scholarship?
