Yeah… not sure what to make of it. It sounds like a cool program but I want to start in the fall.
There’s some good threads about it on here. I got the same decision. Not sure how I feel about it yet.
Same thing happened to me. I guess it’s not something you choose to be apart of but they i just select students who they think would be a good fit for it.

Comments: She’s disappointed, I’m not. With everything going on, I’m happy to keep her in-state and close to home in California. In fact, I had her pull her applications at MI, NE, and deny the waitlist at BU. UCB is her first choice and if not that, she will go to Davis. As she says, it fits her ‘vibe’. You truly end up where you belong!
Accepted to college of general studies, applied to Questrom

Have to say, I’m very disappointed with the financial aid offer. Only received $10,900 from BU with an estimated cost of around $38,000 for my family, which is in no way realistic. I’m surprised considering they meet “100% of demonstrated need” and my family has an EFC of 0 on the FAFSA and low income. This is the first FA offer I’ve received from a school and it is honestly scary since I figured I’d be receiving more aid from these 100% demonstrated need met schools. Looks like I won’t be attending BU.
Guarenteed transfer for September 2021. Ecstatic
Denied for behavior and health major. Little bummed but knew I wouldn’t attend even if accepted due to the cost.

@Cjhastings322 Do your parents own a business or real estate aside from your principal residence? Are they divorced? That could affect your aid. BU is a CSS profile school so home value and other things affect the amount of aid you receive, not just parents’ income.
The FAFSA EFC is irrelevant. What did the BU NPC say you would receive in aid?
@TomSrOfBoston
My parents are primary shareholders in businesses, which are bars unfortunately and have tanked due to the coronavirus. We do not own a home and they are not divorced. I realize that these assets would have affected my aid received but it still sucks considering they hardly earn any money from the businesses and their shares are pretty much worthless at this point. Our primary income is from my mom’s job as an editor for a website and my dad’s job as a photo editor for the same website. We did not check the NPC, which was a mistake in hindsight.
I still think it’s unfair of BU to ask $38,000/year when we only make around $48,000. Do they expect people to sell their homes and businesses to pay for their tuition?

Even though it was one of my top 2 schools I don’t think I’ll be able to attend since I got barely anything in financial aid and no other scholarships
Every other school that I’ve gotten responses from so far have offered me more money so I was pretty disappointed especially since they claim to meet needs 100%, (though that may be the reason I didn’t get money since my parents technically have means but are nearing retirement and refuse to pay more than a few thousand and I have siblings).
Does anyone know of the possibility for additional merit-based scholarships to apply for or outside ones?
Accepted into COC
1400 SAT
3.86 unweighted GPA
Good ECs related to major, multiple APs
No scholarships
No financial aid (what’s up with that? No “AffordableBU”???) So I can’t afford to go.
I should add stats. 1590 SAT (took one time) and 4.0 unweighted GPA. 790 math subject 2 and 770 Biology. National merit finalist, presidential scholar candidate. Professional actor with credits, started home based business, supervisory position at community org, ‘homeschooled’ but has over 70 dual credits at community college, started org that serves homeschoolers and alt ed students. Rigorous coursework like Calc 1 and 2, college physics, philosophy, etc. Got into Questrom and Kilachand, but no merit aid, he just won’t be able to pay what they think we can. Kind of disappointing but that’s how it goes. On to the next…
