Daughter accepted! No merit unfortunately!

My D got Guaranteed Transfer. What is that? Has anyone done it before at BU? ChatGPT doesn’t think BU offers this, and I can’t find information about it anywhere else.

Yes BU has guaranteed transfer. The good news is that dc can choose to save money at a cc or state school for one year before transferring. Or dc can choose another school and decide later whether or not to transfer.

S25 waitlisted, thank goodness. Has several full tuition/full rides elsewhere so this makes it easy to cut it from the list.

Above profile, and didn’t demonstrate interest or do any of the extras (like apply to honors, do the video, open house, etc.)

Son waitlisted also. (Biomedical engineering)
Accepted: UVM, UNH, CU Boulder, UConn, Northeastern
Denied: Johns Hopkins, BC, UNC, UW, Tufts

My D23 was offered this 2 years ago. It’s something Boston does not advertise but it’s legit. If you accept it you are guaranteed to enter Boston as a sophomore after completing a year anywhere accredited with passing grades. It is a good option if you really want to go to Boston and can save money by either going to a community college first year or another school you are accepted to but cannot decide between that one and Boston. They also have the option to study abroad first year that where all the courses seamlessly transfer over to Boston. My daughter at the time was waitlisted everywhere so she accepted the guarantee transfer as a backup in case she didn’t get in anywhere. It is not binding and later after she found out she was accepted to her dream school she informed Boston she wasn’t attending. If you love Boston it’s a good option.

Email from Boston:

If you have questions regarding the Guaranteed Transfer Admission Program, please contact us at 617-353-2300 or gtransfr@bu.edu. If you have decided that you are no longer interested in the program, please let us know.

If my D accepts the Guaranteed Transfer option, and goes to another college, does she still have the option to change her mind and stay where she is or is there some kind of penalty if she backs out next year? She got into three really good state schools that are a lot cheaper, and I was in favor of the states for undergrad even if she got into some of her “reach” privates like BU. This feels like a “free option” to try another school out and then decide. Am I reading it correctly?

That’s correct. There is no penalty. My daughter accepted the program then went to Berkeley. She forgot about guarantee program and it was not until her freshman year second semester when Boston started emailing her to remind her to send her first semester grades to them that she remembered to inform Boston she wasn’t going. No penalty. We never made any deposit we just clicked a box to accept the program then emailed them later to update she wasn’t attending anymore.

We are having trouble logging in - we are using my daughters regular email that she used when she applied but it says it is not recognized

Accepted into school of business with incredibly generous financial aid!

Daughter accepted in CFA with an artistic award, but when I click the link for the award information, it takes me to an invalid page. Anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts on how to get around it?

An option for guaranteed transfer has one year study abroad program where all the courses are approved by Boston. They will email you about it later.

Does anyone know how many were admitted - or the acceptance rate this year?
