hi

what are the expected ED admissions for BME?

Hi! does anyone know when ED comes out? Thanks

Last year it was on Dec 12th, 2024. Does it always come out the Thursday before the 15th?

Hi! My son applied ED for mechanical engineering, and I’ve been reading that typically BU’s engineering majors don’t ED. Was it a mistake to ED to one of the most demanding majors at BU? Thanks

I think so! Assuming it will be the 11th this year

the best reasons to apply ED would be because it is your first choice school/program over any other choice AND you can comfortably pay for the school. so if either of those reasons are not fulfilled it could have been a mistake to apply ED. since you have already done it, it is better to focus on other things while waiting for the results since there is not much to do right now. i have no idea where you heard that BU engineering majors don’t ED but it could be for a multitude of reasons that have nothing to do whether the program is rigorous, worthwhile, etc. so unless it is based on a comprehensive unbiased analysis, it is probably based on anecdote and hearsay and therefore not necessarily something you should be making life-changing decisions upon.

Ditto and I strongly suspect that there isn’t hard published data on this (though I could be wrong having not looked for it!)

Agreed, there’s no data on ED admissions data by major. Past cycle’s dataset indicates 28.3% ED acceptance, vs 11.1% acceptance for all applications. Here’s the link to dataset: https://www.bu.edu/asir/files/2025/03/cds-2025.pdf

i saw on reddit that a recruited athlete got told that the ED date will be december 15th? is this accurate.. because the past admissions cycles it has always been before the 15th & a thursday.

hi! they recently updated their official website and it says early decision notifications are on dec 15th, but previously it said mid-december. i was curious to whether this means that decisions are coming dec 15th?? however, they always came out a couple days before the 15th so i’m a little confused.

anyone received any update on this? Will it be today?

There is a post on Reddit from someone claiming they called admissions in the last couple of days and were told it is tonight at 6pm. Obviously, there is no way to know if this happened, but it seems credible if only because it is consistent with the release dates and times in recent years.

For the last two years, BU has had a very accurate portal myth. Two to three days before the ED results are available, admitted people can find an empty entry in the “Received” checklist. Not quite sure if it still works this year. Could you guys check your BU portal?

just checked, and i don’t have one. does anyone else have? i’ve seen this last year as well, but some ppl didn’t have them & still got in. is it actually accurate?
