Boston University Engineering

I want to go to Boston University School of Engineering, but my parents don’t want me to because they believe that Boston University does not provide enough hands on experience in engineering as well as high level of study in engineering needed for graduate level and real life work. Does this statement have some validity?

As an engineering freshman, I disagree with your statement.

If you are truly ambitious about engineering and show your interest to a professor as well as your commitment, it is easy to get hands on experience. After sending a few emails and showing that I will dedicate a good amount of time each week to the lab, I am now working on a project under a professor’s guidance.

That said, there is no university where you will be handed a research position. I believe it is up to the individual student to take the initiative, and as for rankings, BU has a fairly high (top 10?) standing for biomedical engineering but idk about the other majors.

Its not my opinion, my parents. I think that BU is a great school to study engineering in. However, there does exists schools where you aren’t “handed research positions” but where all students receive more hands on learning on top of studying theories, books, formulas, and numbers. I am actually not sure which engineering to go to, but I am not so sure about biomedical engineering. Thank you for your opinion. :)

i’m also curious about BU’s engineering program.

how is BU’s engineering program compared to northeastern’s??
(not just bio engineering but overall)
