<p>Hello!</p>
<p>I’m Sara, a 17 year old high school senior from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. I am applying to several colleges this fall… While my safety schools are University of Iowa (where I have already been accepted), University of New Mexico, and Texas Tech, I’m also applying to Boston University, International University Bremen (a private university in Bremen, Germany…website: <a href=“http://www.iu-bremen.de%5B/url%5D”>www.iu-bremen.de</a>), and possibly Northwestern University. I was just trying to find out what type of chances I have at Boston U, Northwestern, and IU Bremen…here are my stats:</p>
<p>Classes taken:
4 years of Honors English (Junior & Senior year are also AP), 4 years of math (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus), 5 laboratory science credits (Biology, Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, Geology & Astronomy, and AP Physics B), Health/Geography, US History, AP World History, Government, Economics, PE, 3 years of German language, Marching Band & Concert Band, Advertising Design, Painting & Drawing, and Culinary Arts.</p>
<p>GPA: 3.87
Class Rank: 40 of 449
SAT: 1290 (to be retaken in December)
ACT: 31 (also redone on October 23rd, my scores should be in next weekend)
SAT II: To be taken on November 6th (Writing, German, and Math)</p>
<p>School Organizations: German Club (9th & 10th - President in 10th grade), National Honor Society (11th & 12th), German Honor Society (11th & 12th), Academic Letter & Star, English Expo (11th & 12th), Junior House, Senior House, and Science Fair (12th)</p>
<p>Other Activities: Girl Scouts (12 years, including receiving my Cadette & Senior Leadership Awards, Girl Scout Silver Award, and Girl Scout Gold Award), St. Luke’s Lutheran Youth Group, French Horn (7 years), Trumpet (5 years).</p>
<p>Special Experiences: a 13 day study tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 2003, a 21 day study tour of England, France, Austria, and Italy in 2004 (including a semester of weekly classes prior to the trip in which we studied the art, history, architecture, and culture of each city we would visit on the trip - counted as a 0.5 credit on my transcript), and this summer I am working a paid internship at Sandia National Laboratories. </p>
<p>I’m fairly certain that I will get good teacher recommendations, as the teachers that I am asking are both supportive of me and experienced at writing letters for students.</p>
<p>I’m applying as a Physics/Astronomy major, of course the exact major varies school to school. At Boston University its Astronomy & Physics, at Northwestern its Physics with a minor in Astronomy, and at IU Bremen its Geosciences & Astrophysics. My long term goal is to go to Cambridge and get a PhD in Astrophysics so that I can get a research job with NASA.</p>
<p>I’m not sure what other information would be helpful to write here…so I guess that’s it for now! If there is anything else that would be helpful in determining my potential, then just tell me and I’ll add it on!</p>
