I am a senior trying to decide between both of the above schools. tx state is cheaper, but i got enough scholarship from bu that i could manage it. Mostly I am worried about how school prestige will affect my chances of getting jobs, internships, grad school, etc. I am also concerned that it will be hard to find tx state students who are interested in something other than partying and if i will have trouble adjusting to the the cold in boston. I just really need some insight on whether any of these concerns could be real issues, thanks!

If you are worried about prestige, go BU.
Neither are prestigious persay, but BU is generally considered okay, whereas Texas State is party central. All play, no work.

As a true-blooded 18 years Texan going off to Middlebury in Vermont next year, I know the weather up there is scary, but from what I’ve heard, after a transition period, it’s nothing.

BU is far more prestigious than Texas State.

Thanks! and i know BU is definitely more well known, but is there enough of a difference that it could affect my job and grad school opportunities?

You won’t get a job BECAUSE you went to Boston U or Texas State. Neither are heavily recruited. However, when potential employers see BU, they’ll think, “BU… not too too bad.” When they see Texas State, they’ll think, “Well at least he kinda went to college… I guess.”

So I guess I am saying, if you’re a good student at BU, there will be some decent opportunities. However, at Texas State, you probably won’t have very many opportunities.

BU is a pretty good school.
Texas State is a pretty sh**ty school.

Go to Boston university unless you can’t afford it.
