This is my first post in this forum, so hello to all the regulars! My daughter will be a freshman at Boston University in the fall. She was admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in psychology, but is considering transferring to the College of Communication for photojournalism. When we asked her, best case scenario, where she saw herself in 10 years, she said she would like to be traveling the world taking photographs. She loves photography and has one several local and regional awards. She also won a gold medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards this year. Is journalism with a concentration in photojournalism a marketable degree? Is the Boston University program a decent one? Thanks!

Q: Is journalism with a concentration in photojournalism a marketable degree?
A: Yes, very. A very competitive field but it’s also a field that is hot right now.

Q: Is the Boston University program a decent one? Thanks!
A: Yes BU’s program is excellent.

Way back in the 80’s I was a photojournalist and it was the best job I ever had. The whole concept is different now and changing rapidly. I’ll try to write more tomorrow when I have more time.

Best,
Wheaty

PS. Wow, now I’m flashing back to that life… !!!

Thank you so much for your reply. My daughter has made the decision to transfer to COM for photojournalism, trying to gather as much information as possible.
