<p>Hi, I was accepted to undergraduate program in Fordham U, BU, and two of my safety schools(Trinity U and Hendrix college) with $$$.
Now, I need to make up my mind to where should I end up this fall.
I am interested in studying Molecular biology/ neuroscience/ biochemistry and probably going to do pre-med. I am especially looking for a school that offers very good undergraduate research opportunities. Can you guys please help me decide? </p>
<p>The issue is if I decide to attend Fordham U or BU, I have to transfer after one year because my parents cannot afford their tuition. However, I’ve heard that BU is notorious to its grade deflation. Fordham U, I have no idea how good Fordham U is in my interest area(pre-med/ neuroscience/ or medical research in general).
Trinity U and Hendrix College both are small liberal art schools that also provides some undergraduate research opportunities. However, I am very worried about deciding on these colleges because they are not as highly “ranked” schools. I am afraid that I would significantly lower my chance of getting into good(nationally, top ranked) graduate school. Please help me!</p>
<p>Wait…you’d have to transfer out after one year? If that’s the situation, don’t consider them at all.</p>
<p>Secondly, I can assure you that plenty of Trinity grads move on to good graduate programs. (though I don’t know anything about Hendrix.)</p>

<p>My S is a senior at Fordham an loves the school. However, I would not attend ANY school knowing that you can’t afford it after the first year. I’d go with one that makes financial sense to your family. Good luck.</p>
<p>hmm… Thanks for the advice! Yes, I realized that going to a school that I cannot afford is not a good decision.
fliqer: I am not underrating Trinity. I simply don’t have much information about Hendrix or Trinity U. It seems like I narrowed my options between Trinity U and Hendrix College. I am going to visit both schools next week.
For hippoparade and fliquer, are you guys students at Trinity? Can you guys give me more information about studying biological research,molecular biology/neuroscience at Trinity?
Again, I don’t have much information about Hendrix. My school teachers have told me to choose Trinity over Hendrix, but seems like if I pursue the pre-med /medical research area, Hendrix might be the better fit(their second popular major is biological science/pre-med). Is anyone from Hendrix?</p>
<p>Hendrix is the #1 up and coming liberal arts college in the country. They have a vast majority going on to grad school. Our daughter spent a pre-med weekend there and loved it. Great pre-med. She will apply for Fall 2013; it will be high on her list. Take a look at it. Although it is Arkansas, it is progressive, beautiful and liberal.</p>
<p>No point in going to an expensive school if you transfer away after a year. The freshman level courses are generally not all that unique. It is the junior and senior level courses that differentiate colleges’ academic offerings.</p>
<p>For a pre-med majoring in something with poor bachelor’s level job prospects, cost is a very important factor.</p>
