I used to think I could get into Cornell, Tufts or NYU. Now, I realize that my grades are garbage (and I mean garbage) and I should be aiming for some schools that are much lower in prestige…

Is it worth it to apply to the to upper-level schools (Colgate, whatever), or is it not even worth the application fee?

And what are your EC’s?
There’s no question that academics are #1 to colleges, but if you’ve got something special to offer, you may be surprised.

gpa UW 3.5 – mostly honors, 3 APs next year, 2100 SATs – 1400 Reading and Math, very little ECs, but I’m wondering if it is even worth applying to colleges like Colgate, Claremont McKenna, or Pomona, or not??

my GPA is just below a 3. I’m loaded with honors a AP classes, I haven’t taken the SAT yet…I work several volunteer hours a week. is there a cutoff with most schools and GPA?
