<p>I used to think I could get into Cornell, Tufts or NYU. Now, I realize that my grades are garbage (and I mean garbage) and I should be aiming for some schools that are much lower in prestige…</p>
<p>Is it worth it to apply to the to upper-level schools (Colgate, whatever), or is it not even worth the application fee?</p>
<p>How bad, exactly, are your grades? Have you been taking honors/AP courses? Have you taken the SAT or the ACT yet?</p>
<p>And what are your EC’s?
There’s no question that academics are #1 to colleges, but if you’ve got something special to offer, you may be surprised.</p>
<p>It’s worth applying, trust me. I wish I applied to “higher-level” schools now that I got into my top schools. You never know what could happen.</p>

<p>gpa UW 3.5 – mostly honors, 3 APs next year, 2100 SATs – 1400 Reading and Math, very little ECs, but I’m wondering if it is even worth applying to colleges like Colgate, Claremont McKenna, or Pomona, or not??</p>
