BOWDOIN or CARLETON?

I got into Bowdoin, and it has been my top choice for a while, but they want me to pay $20,000 a year. Carleton only wants $14,000.
I also have a full ride at UofMichigan College of Engineering and at Kalamazoo College.
Plus I was waitlisted at Harvard.

What should I do?

If you plan to major in engineering, then consider the full ride to Michigan. Since your post only shares cost info., there is really no basis for further meaningful comment.

It would be helpful (as icy indicated) if you could provide more details, such as:
Is distance from home a factor?
How much is money a factor?
What are you planning to major in/what areas are you more interested in? (I’m assuming engineering, but it’s not clear)
What appeals to you more at Bowdoin? How about Carleton? (sometimes just writing down why you like or dislike a school can help you decide)

maybe after visiting carleton and bowdoin you’ll get an idea. if bowdoin is your top choice, then you should go there if you can afford it. if you can’t afford it, then you shouldn’t. what do your parents say?

It seems like $6,000 a year difference on an education that nominally costs ~$48,000/year is insignificant over the intermediate and long run in comparison to being at a place you like better for four years and associated with for the rest of your life.

UMichigan or Bowdoin.
If you can live with the money, go Bowdoin. I know someone there who loves it.

I hope you like to ski =)

UofM is excellent. I’m going to Kalamazoo.

Hey, if you’re set on engineering, become a Wolverine! :D
