3.35 at selective Jesuit High School

*Great recommendation from my counselor, my AP USH teacher wrote a recomendation B+ A-, and my English teacher wrote a recommendation A- B+

*not reporting my SAT/Act both schools don’t require them
*wrote excellent essays and an excellent supplement for Bowdoin (had professional help)
*Poli Sci Major
*3 AP classes (Gov, Euro, USH)

  • Columbia University High School Summer Program (Summers of 2011 & 2012)
*Employment: Internship at a Law Firm, Office assistant at a non-profit, camp counselor for camp with children with disabilities

*Officer of school Botany Club, Speech and Debate Club, VJ Track Team, African American Heritage Club, Young Republicans Club.

First Generation College Student, African American, devout catholic

Probably have a reasonable shot.

Your GPA is rather low for Bowdoin, what is your class rank?

Your stats are a little low for both schools and you don’t have as many AP courses as most applicants, but, it is **impossible **to guess how much the other factors boost your chances. First gen and especially URM can help a lot.
The Catholic part won’t help at Bowdoin, did you apply to other Catholic schools besides HC?

Your GPA is quite low but I think you have a shot at Holy Cross because you are African American, first generation college student, devout Catholic and attended a selective Jesuit college. Be sure to interview, take a tour and show sincere interest that it is your number one school!

Bowdoin: Reach (it is a reach for just about anyone)
Holy Cross: Match/high match
