I recently got into both Colby and Bowdoin. Where should I commit? Colby also chose me as a Pulver Scholar. Only 10 are selected and being a scholar guarantees one internship and one research opportunity. Bowdoin is much more closer to civilization though and more prestigious. Colby has a better campus though.
Assuming they are equally affordable, go to the college YOU prefer.
Prestige doesn’t matter - both are very prestigious. Go where you feel most comfortable. The Pulver Scholar program sounds like it comes with great opportunities, but Bowdoin also has excellent internship and research programs. Assuming both are equally affordable, go wherever you see yourself spending four years.
Agreed prestige doesn’t matter but I’d also agree OP that Bowdoin is the better known name.
But that doesn’t get you much in life.
The opportunities Pulver can connect you to will.
Best of luck whatever you decide.
There’s no wrong choice.
Do you have particular academic interests or an intended major at this time?
I like you already.
Bowdoin College is more prestigious, but the Pulver Scholar designation levels the playing field.
Only you–based on your personal preferences–can decide where to enroll.
Congratulations !
(Out of curiosity, were you accepted elsewhere ?)

Bowdoin will definitely have access to internships. I have a student at Bates, and there is a strong network among all three CBB schools, which helps with internships, jobs, etc. I agree with you that Bowdoin has a much better location than Colby. As you walk around, you will see that the town is just a block or so away, and there is an Amtrak station there. To get into Boston from Bowdoin or Bates is about 2 hours, while Colby is closer to 3 hours away. Mine has done the commute quite a bit, and at this point, 2 hours is about the most I would want to be from a major hub (jobs, airlines, etc.). Portland is a fantastic city also, but doesn’t offer as much as Boston. I think Bowdoin and Colby are both well known and highly ranked.
