Can someone help me because honestly I don’t know what most branches do.

What is the diffrence between cavalry and armor?

Adjunt general and General Staff?

Special Forces/Green Berets?

Not an expert, so correct me if I’m wrong someone:

cavalry are like infantrymen who ride around on vehicles (helicopters, fighting vehicles, etc) whereas armor are the guys who operate tanks.

adjutant general are like the guys who work in the administrative work of the military whereas general staff are the guys who work under a general.

special forces are the green berets. don’t call a special forces operator a green beret though. the green beret is just the covering on their heads, special forces is what they are.

Cav actually is more dependent on what type of unit you go to, whether it be light or heavy. For instance, someone who branched Armor and went to a typically heavy post, ie Ft. Hood, would most likely wind up in an armor platoon with its abrams tanks. However, had that same armor officer gone to Ft. Bragg, a light post, they would have gone to a light, cav unit, which typically use Bradleys and Humvees.

armor operates solely as heavy units using abrams tanks- often times they are attached for infantry units as support. Cavalry on the other hand integrates all major portions of the combat arms (heavy and light vehicles, helicopters, and infantrymen) during operations. There is no general staff branch- general staff is an assignment. spectrez is right about the adjutant general.
Special Forces and Green Berets are the same thing, green berets is a moniker given to SF soldiers due to the color of the beret they wear. SF soldiers are usually elite infantrymen who apply and qualify for service with SF units.
