Brandeis a fit?

D is a recruited athlete. Visited Brandeis last summer taking the Admin tour and visited with the coach. D enjoyed her visit, enjoyed the interaction with the coach and recognizes the quality of the school. Not being jewish or from the NE her mother and I are wondering about the fit. Background: christian, fiscal conservative, socially middle of the road, academically strong course work and grades, not the best test taker (expect 1950-2050 on SAT), strong athletic recruit, from north Texas. Thoughts?

Well, from a student-body perspective Brandeis is quite diverse so I’m sure she will meet lots of people from various backgrounds (assuming that’s appealing to her).

Now, Brandeis aside… Massachusetts is NOT Texas. In that respect it will be almost like studying abroad for her. How well does she do outside of her “comfort zone?”

Soze, D is looking for a school outside of Texas and is focusing in the NE, Mid-Atlantic and MW. She is dead set wanting to ‘go away’ for her college expereince. Diversity is not an issue for her. Just do not want to be in a non-diverse environment that was completely opposite of her background and core charateristics.

Brandeis is definitely not “non-diverse.” Like any NE schools, it will be very different from most of Texas. Which sounds like what she’s looking for.
