There’s no doubt in my mind that this girl would be dead right now if the two bystanders hadn’t intervened-

He should suffer from his illness for the next 30 years in the custody of the state of NC.

Barrons, spoken like a person who has never had a family member with severe mental illness. He may or may not be mentally ill, but it CAN make people do things that no one in their “right mind” would do. Every state (with only four exceptions) recognizes this and allows an insanity defense of some sort.

Whether he’s mentally ill or not this serial violent offender (if guilty) should never walk freely again, whether in jail or a mental facility.

*Police said two brothers driving by saw the man pulling her to a car in the parking lot behind the RBC Bank at 101 E. Rosemary St. The brothers pulled into the parking lot to intervene, and the assailant let the woman go unharmed.

The assailant then drove off, hitting one of the brothers with his car, police said. The man was treated for minor injuries at UNC Hospitals and released.*

These men are heroes.

Let’s just hope some lawyer doesn’t get this guy off somehow.

Public defender Natasha Adams told Scarlett that Walker suffers from mental illness, and his family isn’t sure if he has been taking his medication.

Any mentally ill person who has to take meds so that he won’t kidnap, assault, etc, has no business being on the streets.

As a mother with a daughter currently attending UNC who jogs daily, I wholeheartedly second this sentiment. If I hadn’t just spoken to my daughter, I would have had a heart attack reading this story.

intparent–the state of NC I’m sure has places to keep the criminally insane too. I just said custody of the state on purpose. Either way he should stay away from society for many many years…
