Breaking SAT records!

Everybody always says you get 200 pts for your name on the SATs. Since wrong answers mean negative points, is it technically possible to get less than a 200 on your SAT? Just curious.

stupid /* ugh */

no, 600 is the lowest possible score

you can get lower than 600 if you have all wrong answers.

^ no you cannot get lower than 600. each section is between 200-800. i believe that if you leave all of them blank you would end up with a score around 320.

i might be wrong though so w/e

some guy tried doing this i believe. taking the SAT and filling in all the answers to get the lowest possible score

200 is the lowest possible score (per section) like 1MX and PK already said.

If you get every answer wrong, you will get a 200 on the section.

What a waste of money…

you get 200 per section if you leave all blank. you can get lower if you have all of them wrong.

Ah… technically that’s true, but 200 is the lowest score that CB reports.

Actually, I think CB assumes that you are canceling your score if you have nothing filled in. I read that somewhere, can’t remember where.

Edit: I found it! I read it on the CB website at the link GoldShadow provided.

http://www.colinfahey.com/oldpages/2003apr5_sat/original_2003apr5_sat.htm

This person tried to answer all the questions incorrently. That results might surprise you.

uh. .

Haha, that’s whacked

The 200-800 thing is a scaled score. The raw score can be negative. However, a 200 scaled score corresponds to a range of raw scores, and this range includes all negative scores. So while it’s certainly possible to get a negative raw score, you can never get below 200 scaled.

My friend got a 1250 on the new SAT, and she was actually trying.

i tried not to laugh
