hello,
is there any risk of applying under more than one ED agreement?
and if yes, what are the punishments?

Don’t do it. It shouldn’t matter what the punishment is - it’s wrong, and you don’t need to stoop to low levels to get into college. Applying to two schools ED is trouble waiting to happen. If you do it and you get caught, at the very least you aren’t getting into either school. But it’s probable that they will contact your high school and it’s possible they will contact the other colleges you’re applying to. You will not be sued by the colleges but your school will probably take action against you (suspension, detention). They can and will do this. I read a story where a girl was expelled from her high school for lying about her activities on her application.

Also this is probably in the wrong forum.

Assuming you are talking about binding ED agreements, then your GC needs to sign off on the ED agreement. No GC is going to sign off on two conflicting ED agreements.

High schools that are complicit with this will get blackballed – years of no admissions regardless of the quality of applicant. You harm many others.

never thought it culd be that serious. what if I have already submitted the applications for ED to 3 schools

How did a GC fill out his/her section and not notice this?

Regardless, what you would have to do is email admissions at 2 of them and tell them that you want to move your application to RD.

How did you apply to 3 ED schools. The common app doesnt let you select more than 1 ED school. I would follow skieurope’s advice of moving 2 of your ED schools to RD.

do what skieurope says. You’re on the edge of being an adult. You are learning a quick and harsh lesson that may jeopardize your options for Fall 2015. Want to be an adult? Better start acting like one.

No one will believe you if you say you were simply mistaken. Why shouldn’t we all think you were just trying to game the colleges and get an undeserved advantage? If you persist (I hope you don’t), I honestly hope you get caught and become a plain lesson to others.

I second @t26e4 that I hope you will learn your lesson should you pursue this.

To my knowledge, all top-tier colleges share the names of ED applicants among themselves. Sooner or later, you will be reprimanded with no gain.

They will all reject you when this becomes known. Fix it now. It is considered extremely dishonest and the colleges will not want such a student who has no regard for contracts or rules, once a cheater always a cheater. It is very hard to see how your school allowed this. Fix it now.

great…but you don’t have to wish me bad…I have moved the 2 shools to ed 2…i think that’s better

But you can’t apply ED II to two schools……repeating the same error. ED II is as much of a binding contract as ED I.

You can’t apply ED 2 to 2 schools either…

lol we’ve got a genius on our hands. Only 1 Ed school at a time, bud

Ok, let me explain something. Applying ED means that you are committed to that school. If you get in, you must go (couple exceptions). Can you see how this would be a problem if you got into multiple ED schools? You can only attend one. Switch your other two applications to RD, or if you are deferred or rejected from the ED1 school, you can select ONE school to move to ED2, the other must stay regular decision. It’s not that hard to understand.

thanks… #helpful (Honestly)
I will do so. thanks a lot for the info. Hoping to get in in ED 1 …
again, thanks a lot.

Right. You can’t apply ED2 while the ED1 application is pending. As guineagirl96 explained, you have to wait until you are deferred or rejected from your ED1 school and then ask the other school to change your application from RD to ED2. Don’t you have a GC to explain this to you, not to mention the need for the GC to sign off on the ED agreement?

It’s wrong, but my guess is that the OP didn’t use the common app for all the schools to bypass the ED limitation

My guess as well, but that does not explain why/how the GC did not catch this.

homeschool maybe?
