Do we know When the results will be available?
Had the same thought.
I think they will remain, mainly after watching the Scots (though of course it’s not the exact same issue).
My friends in Uk are all remain from their FB posts.
I’m hoping for in, but I don’t get a vote.
@garland that’s why I think the “in” will win. But who knows?
My British family is firmly in the “in” category.
The strong gains in the stock markets today and rise in the value of the British pound seem to indicate that investors are certainly betting on remain.
Remain
In - hopefully
I think in.
Seems the horrid weather might be a factor.
Not clear which side the horrid weather favors. There’s apparently a pretty big age skew on this issue, with older voters favoring out and younger voters favoring in. Bad weather might keep some older folks at home, helping the ins. Bad weather might also keep less likely voters away from the polls, and I would assume that in the UK, as here, younger age groups are less reliable voters, so that would help the outs. Or maybe it’s a wash.
I’m betting in, just because out seems like a massive headache to implement, with little obvious benefit.
I’m betting out. As somebody mentioned, I think the out people are more passionate
A lot of the weather related problems were due to flooding on commuter lines and some stations even had to shut down. London appears to be a strong remain area and it was making workers commutes home a nightmare and perhaps keeping them from getting to the polls.
It rains all the time there. If weather would keep people home they’d never leave their homes.
^^ And crafty. I just heard an interview with a woman in the Scottish Independence movement and many of them are voting for out because one reason the 2014 Referendum on Scottish Independence didn’t pass was a fear of what not being in the EU would mean. If Britain leaves the EU, she feels that there will be another vote on Scottish Independence and it will be far more likely to pass.
Of course, Scotland is very small and the number of voters there may not make enough difference either way on Brexit.
^ interesting as I heard more Scots are in favor of remaining in EU.
It’s quite interesting and I’m enjoying watching the vote coverage on CNNI. A welcome break from our endless election coverage.
First results expected soon from Newcastle.
Scratch that. Some results already reported. 19,322 remain 823 leave. Don’t know where it’s from.
If only the Scotland news coverage could be devoid of tiresome US election coverage. It was reported that the Scots are displeased w one of the US candidates doing a business visit in Scotland to promote a golf resort.
Yes, I’ve heard. Poor Scots. Scathing article ( I think in the Guardian) about what he did to those neighboring the golf course.
Newcastle - 50.7% remain 49.3% leave.
Those first results were from Gibraltar.
First result from Scotland (Clackmannanshire) 57.7% remain 42.22% leave. This is what they expected.
Sunderland (near Newcastle) 38.66 remain 61.34 leave. Also expected as its a manufacturing area. I think they expected more leaves in Newcastle then they got.
