Bristol Palin & Levi Johnston

Ahhh-- thanks for clarifying, TOS. I thought I was overlooking something somewhere, and it was witty. You should take credit for that.

BTW, is anyone taking Levi’s possible mayoral candidacy seriously up there? Does that position require a HS diploma or equivalent?

Oh, and I guess we know what they do to keep warm during those 9 mos of cold winter…

It is customary for the contestants on DWTS to have family sitting in the front row during their live performance. Please tell me this isn’t going to turn into another photo op for Sarah Palin, or maybe Levi could come and support his “baby momma.” The possibilities to reach a 10 on the gag meter are endless.

They shoudl get Todd Palin as a contestant too. Father/daughter dance competition would be an audience-grabber.

Well, jym, I don’t have my finger on the pulse of the political scene in Wasilla, BUT…

I think, honestly, that all but a small pocket of folks are just weary of all things Palin - there is a definite feeling that Mama Grizzly sold out the state for her personal gain, and, darn it, their antics are just embarrassing.

I’m not sure of the Wasilla mayoral requirements (pulse?) but it’s a good question. I did see where he filed for election ([Johnston files letter of intent to run for office in Wasilla: Mat-Su | adn.com](http://www.adn.com/2010/08/23/1421450/johnston-files-letter-of-intent.html)) and the 125(!) comments after the article are enlightening (disclaimer: I haven’t read them all, only the first few). Here’s one:

“The entire nation is laughing at Wasilla. They believe that in Wasilla we are so stupid that we would elect someone like this to be our mayor because after all, we must be the city with the dumbest ppl in America. Why I’ll bet a monkey or a dog could be put on the ballot and we would not even notice. Or so, the media of America would like it’s viewers to think.
They actually want to make a reality show out of making fun of the people in Wasilla. Great. I find all of this deeply offensive.
I’m telling you, we need to have a vote, to kick him out of the state. Him, and a few others.
Can this adolecent even read or sign his name?
I wish the ADN would stop wasting my time with stories about this loser.”

Alaskans tend to be pretty straightforward and I think that about sums up the feelings of a lot of people up here.

Well, Bristol has to be better on DWTS than Kate.

So much for getting a GED, attending college while working at a job (was it at a dentist’s office?) and raising Tripp. HURRAY FOR HOLLYWOOD! She ought to have a lot that the Kentucky home for unwed mothers can use to motivate their girls.

There seems to be a double “silver (or gold) lining” to DWTS. Bristol can "Hollywood up "AND lose the last of the baby weight (remember Ozzy’s kid used DWTS to go buff) for the next round of milking the limelight.

Where is Tripp going to be during all the speach giving and dance preparation? You think the professional dancer part of the DWTS team will move to Wasilla?

That was Maxx and Erin’s freestyle dance, I believe.

Nobody was better than Kate Gosselin (well, maybe Pamela Anderson) at drawing in an audience every week on DWTS. I can’t see Bristol Palin being interesting enough to do that. However, if her MOTHER were to be a contestant…the ratings would go through the roof!!

And now Levi is regretting his apology to Sarah. It just keeps going and going and going… [Levi: Wish I Didn’t Say Sorry to Sarah Palin - The Early Show - CBS News](http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/08/27/earlyshow/leisure/celebspot/main6810342.shtml?tag=contentBody;cbsCarousel)

oh-- and his manager’s name is Tank Jones?? And his run for office is part of his reality tv show this is just too good!!

During the very brief second engagement, wasn’t it rumored that as a couple they were hoping to be on a reality show? Forgive me, but I can’t keep these episodes straight. But now, EACH of them is going to be on a reality show!

Ellemenope: So funny about the ratings if Sarah were on DWTS!!

SP couldn’t be on DWTS. She would trip over her tongue.

I have wondered if the engagement/break up is explained by the absolute lack of interest shown by the industry in buying a reality show where Levi and Bristol were married to each other raising Tripp. Engagement announced, shop the wedding/marriage reality idea, it goes no where and then oops–engagement off–“I’ve been played” to stir interest, and Levi and Bristol are both trying other self-promotion ideas.

I saw the US cover with “the family.” I was struck by the fact that Bristol was photographed looking pretty frumpy. Then I hear she will be on DWTS in the glam costumes the dancers all wear. To me the switch is an indication that Bristol in her own way is willing to be whatever sells.

If you read what Bristol’s “after Levi” guy had to say, he reported that Bristol changed in early 2010 in the pursuit of $$$$$$$$.

I can’t fault them for wanting money. Neither are educated and now there are people coming after them with offers and these offers involve both money and “fame” and likely feel irresistible to these young kids. Sarah threw them in the spotlight initially and then both sought the limelight and now handlers and others are seeking them out with these offers. Fame comes calling and they can’t pass it up. And money comes calling and they have few other ways to earn it right now and so kaching!

With Levi’s reality show gig (him running for Mayor), I feel sorry for the people of Wasilla who must feel like they will be the laughing stock of the world.

Me neither. Both of them are very attractive…lots of “celebrities” don’t seem to have much more than attractiveness going for them as it is. Bristol can make more per episode on DWTS than - what, a year? - of part time office manager work.

But what does it say about “us” that enough of us will watch these shows to make it worthwhile to pay them the big bucks? Is it the train wreck syndrome? I won’t be watching, so I don’t know. (I don’t intend to imply that I am “above” those who will watch, just don’t get it.)

I think that they are having a hard time getting “celebrities” to sign up for DWTS. The last several seasons have had an increasing number of “yes I have heard of them-- but who are they again?” and “who?? I never heard of them” contestants. Any name recognition will draw big bucks because of the possibility of an audience draw. Sad but true.

And Kate made it 5 weeks, so 1/2 $ mill!!!

How are a lot of things explained? Have you seen the poster and view count on the Dressing Young thread?

I actually thought that *was the premise *of DWTS, to put the C or D list crowd on the air again.

I’m actually hoping that Bristol can be taught to dance. No one expects Buzz Aldren or Tom DeLay to be good, but there is sort of an expectation that the young beautiful ones won’t embarrass themselves too badly. It might do her good to expose her to a wider, most probably not ultra-conservative world.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_with_the_Stars_(U.S._season_11)</a>

I don’t watch DWTS all that often (confessions-- it usually conflicts with American Idol), but did a little research today. The seasons have ranged from having a low of 6 stars (Summer 2005) to a high of 16 stars (Fall 2009). Most seasons have had 11/12 stars. Not sure why they would choose C-D list actors on the show, unless they can’t afford to pay/insure the A-B listers.
