british grading to GPA, a bit confused

hi, I graduated from engineering, with british2:1 second upper (honor) degree, had a bit banking/finance job experience and CFA L2 under pursue. I wanna apply for master in finance in US, but i just have problem to convert my result to GPA, how does it work? (A - 4, B - 3. . . how about A+, A-?). What is the GPA range that 2:1 (hon) roughly fits in? Any help? appreciated

I think a 2:1 is around the 3.3-3.5 range or so, but these things vary. You should contact the school(s) you’re interested in and get a firm answer about conversion.

They view a 2.1 with a 3.5-3.6 and they view a first class honor as a 3.8 sadly…

Avoid converting to GPA as much as possible. Just put down your percentage mark and classification if you can, if not then don’t put anything down and mention it in your CV, and if you still can’t do that then yes use 3.3-3.5 as a rough guide. My average was 59% (high 2:2) and I put my GPA down as 3.3 whenever it was absolutely necessary.
