The theatre program at Coastal has been featured on BroadwayWorld.com twice this week! First, the program was selected as the first University featured on the BW Student Center as the original “School in the Spotlight”. A wonderful article was written about the show, and if you follow the links below you can read it, as well as visit the student center where you can see pictures from all of the shows, cast lists, and promotional posters.

In addition, CCU theatre grad Leigh Hendrix was featured in an article about her upcoming solo show “How to be a Lesbian in 10 Days or Less” that will be performed as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival in NYC. Leigh will be in attendance at CCU this Friday to give a master class and will be performing the show for the students first this Saturday and Sunday before she takes it to New York.

Also, although these are not from BroadwayWorld, here are a few more interesting links about CCU that have popped up in the last few days. Here are some videos about the next show to open at CCU, “Boeing Boeing”, presented with Atlantic Stage.

For those who don’t know, Atlantic Stage is the equity house that runs in conjunction with the CCU Department of Theatre. Within their 6-show season, 3 of the shows include mostly CCU students- the current “Boeing Boeing” and next semesters “Bigfoot and Other Lost Souls” and “Lost in Yonkers”. We already list the shows as professional credits on our resume, and starting next year Atlantic Stage will be offering EMC points to CCU Students who are cast in Atlantic Stage productions!

And then, last but certainly not least, the infamous “We need more dogs” video, as featured on tosh.0 and Chelsea Lately. Although not about the theatre program, I would like to imagine that the physical theatre program influenced his eccentric body movements and varied facial expressions. Here it is!

I suppose I will post again! Why not add to the mass amount of links in this thread? Here is the recent fan page on facebook for the CCU Department of Theatre. It will be helpful in keeping up with “late-breaking” news surrounding the department and check out photos/videos of our productions.

Edit: I don’t believe I’m allowed to post links to things like “Facebook” or other social media sites, so before I get in trouble, I’m going to remove the direct link. But know that this new page exists and please like it- we want to spread the word about the department as much as possible. Potential students, parents, friends, and general fans of the department as a whole. We’d love to inform you!
