I applied to Fieldston, Horace Mann, Riverdale, Grace Church, Packer, Trinity, Dalton, and Collegiate. I also took the SHSAT and got into Bronx Science. My decisions were: Admitted: Grace Church, Reject: Collegiate, Packer, Waitlist: everywhere else. I didn’t get into any of my top choices and I’m not sure about the waitlists. Should I do something about the waitlists or should I lock in on Bronx Science?
I can tell you that I think Bronx Science is an excellent school where you will meet really interesting kid many of whom will go on to do really interesting things. I’m not a huge fan of Grace Church for high school, but that’s my personal take and I have known families who were happy with it. You can commit to Bronx Science and stay on the wait lists at zero cost. It is only if you commit to Grace Church that you will have to pay a deposit and potentially lose it. I would pay some consideration to commute in all cases.
Bronx Science is a great option. The kids there seem happy and collaborative. And the price is right!

You can always stay on WLs and see if anything happens before September too.

I just got off the waitlist at fieldston, is there anything I should consider about it?
Fieldston’s an excellent school. It is full of families who can easily afford to spend $65,000 a year for high school. If that describes your family, or if it is otherwise affordable, it is worth a look.

No, it is K-8.
Fieldston says that I have to decide by tomorrow. I’m not sure if I should commit to Fieldston because Horace Mann and Riverdale still seemed interested. HM and Riverdale haven’t made up their minds yet. Right now I’m also not sure about Bronx Science as I have a difficult commute there.
You need to decide between Fieldston and Science. There’s no assurance that the other 2 will be options.

I am having trouble figuring out where you could be coming from where Bronx Science would be a difficult commute but Fieldston isn’t.

Between Bronx Science and Fieldston, which school would have better college chances? Just wondering if Fieldston would have more assets or at Bx Sci I would stand out more.
There is no universal answer to this question. You need to pick the one that’s going to allow you to be your best self. That’s probably the one where you feel most comfort socially. One might also have more activities that relate to your interests. You can’t assume that you’d be the same person at the end of four years regardless of which you choose but that one would showcasing you better. You will have had different experiences at each and be a different candidate. So where will you thrive?
