Brooklyn BA/MD vs. RPI/AMC Physician-Scientist

I was set on going to the Brooklyn program, my I got an acceptance to the RPI program. Although it may seem obvious that I should pick RPI (or so everyone is telling me) because it is 7 years with no MCAT and Brooklyn is 8 years with an MCAT (27 min score), I don’t want to make the wrong decision. So, what would you pick in my position, and specifically, why?

Brooklyn Pros

 • near the city, good social life
 • freedom to major in anything
 • sister is already there so I know a lot of the people already there and they are all greatt
 • free tuition
 • apartment (which i kind of like better than a dorm)

Brooklyn Cons

 • undergrad not so great
 • still have to take MCAT
 • 8 years
 • all undergrad summers are full of volunteer/internship requirements
 • no campus life

RPI Pros

 • no MCAT
 • 7 years
 • 2 free summers of undergrad
 • better undergrad
 • strong muslim/pakistani community ( i guess it counts for something?)
 • you get an MD with a Distinction in Research (MDDR)

RPI Cons

 • not much to do in Albany
 • 45,000 a year for undergrad
 • third summer, (right before med school), research requirement

Let me know what you guys think! And also let me know if you’re def going to the program :)

oh and another con for RPI is the lack of freedom to major in anything. you must major in a science.

um for me; i will also consider location and probably future residency in that area.

go wit rpi

i thnk bklyn, i hear albany isnt too good

if money is a problem def. go for brookyln . i dont know much about rpi but i heard brookyln is a good choice
