Just a thought: I know this sounds negative, but maybe they’re taking full pay kids now in order to recover the money from the number of international students that aren’t able to come to Brown due to the virus. Towards the end of the waitlist term (mid-July), they’ll probably just take the loss and accept the number of students needed without considering financial aid packages.

I have a question. What happens if an international student applies for his I20 with the University he committed to attend and then he gets off the waitlist? Will there be any problems with his new university?
Yep, it looks like pretty much every single person admitted off the waitlist on Reddit and CC have been full-payers. People from elite boarding schools have been getting off pretty easily.
Brown claims they are need-blind for the waitlist, but we know that it’s hardly ever the truth for many schools.
The I-20 is a document issued by the university, which is then mailed to you. You have to use this document to schedule a visa appointment. So it’s okay to have an I-20 issued by another school if you don’t use it to start the visa process. Assuming you get admitted off the waitlist, your “new” university would then issue a new I-20 and you would use it to start the visa process.

All of the waitlist-related stuff on my portal just vanished, as did the virtual campus tour. No email, but I’m assuming this means I got rejected. Anybody else seeing something similar?

Hey guys, one question: if you don’t get off the waitlist, do you always get an email or a rejection letter?
Do you guys think that maybe the portal stuff just timed out since it’s been a month since May 1st? I think you can still upload stuff which wouldn’t really make sense if the waitlist process was done.

The waitlist stuff didn’t disappear for me… it all looks the same as it did
